Toolpathing Layers for Multi-Color Epoxy Inlays

In this video I’ll demonstrate and discuss the processes I used for Toolpathing the Layers I want to carve for an epoxy inlay in Vectric VCarve Desktop, VCarve Pro, and Aspire.

First I’ll show you the modifications I made to the vectors and their layers. I’ll introduce an Order of Operations I came up with, along with an Epoxy Pouring Schedule. I’ll describe the steps I took to create the order of operations and pouring schedule, and some of the things to watch out for along the way.

Then I’ll demonstrate the simplest way to toolpath these layers, and how to avoid mistakes. I’ll show you how I set the cutting depths of the various toolpaths in order to get a good toolpath preview. We’ll calculate and preview all of the toolpaths needed to carve the project. Finally, I’ll demonstrate how I saved the G-code files, combining multiple toolpaths into a single g-code file that uses the same tool.

As usual, if you have any comments or questions about anything I covered in this video, please join me for the Live Q&A, or put ‘em in the comment section below.

On Sunday, April 24th, I’ll be hosting a LIVE Q&A session, where you can ask your questions pertaining to anything I’ve covered in this video. That Q&A starts at 3 pm Eastern time, Noon Pacific time. Hope to see you there!
